Vision Statement

To be a prominent community member known for meeting the healthcare needs of the entire community through education that reflects Care and Compassion for individuals.”

Mission Statement

“To build and promote a workforce of healthcare workers, including nurses who are intellectually and socially aware, competent, and compassionate to provide the health care needs of their communities. “

Our Philosphy

The philosophy of the Health and Safety Education Training Center has been guided by the profession of Nursing.  Nursing is a Science and an Art. The objective of nursing is to improve lives as front-line members of the health care delivery team to help individuals, families, groups, and communities to reach an optimum state of well-being by restoring, maintaining, and promoting their health. Nurses empower patients, guiding them toward health behaviors and support them in time of need. The Health and Safety Education Training Center philosophy provides an overall framework for general and specific nursing objectives as well as a foundation from which all aspects of our community of nursing students are developed.

  1. Nursing draws upon the biological, behavioral, and social sciences as well as nursing’s own unique body of knowledge.
  2. Nursing requires ethical behavior, critical thinking, problem solving, and effective communication skill.
  3. Nursing spans these multiple disciplines to mirror the current health care environment which focuses on continual quality improved client centered care.
  4. The Nurse assists the client to achieve an optimal level of wellness through caring interpersonal relationship.
  5. The faculty recognizes the client is a unique person and an individual that draws on psychological, psychosocial, cultural, developmental, environmental, and spiritual experiences. The individual is viewed in a holistic (mind, body, and spirit) manner recognizing these variables which impact their perception of health and response to healthcare.
  6. The faculty believes the goal of nursing is to assist the person in the pursuit of wellness as determined by the persons beliefs. To achieve this goal, the Nurse is also involved with the illness prevention and health maintenance.
  7. Nursing accepts the humanistic approach of valuing the other person’s opinions and viewports and believes in maintaining the dignity and integrity of the person. The Nurse protects the person’s rights and ability to make choices.
  8. Nursing students will be instructed to view the person as an individual who has the potential to reach an optimal level of health and wellness and not an individual with an illness with the focus of symptoms.
  9. The Health and Safety Education Training Center faculty believes that the nurse’s role in the complex healthcare environment is to work collaboratively as peers with interdisciplinary teams and to integrate evidenced based care for the client and community. The ever-evolving complexity of nursing requires safe practitioners that have the capacity to change and integrate new knowledge and evidenced based care into methods of safe healthcare delivery.
  10. Nurses should be life-long learners. The Health and Safety Education Training Center strive to provide learning experiences designed to achieve a combination of knowledge, values and skills as outlined in the course objectives.
  11. The Health and Safety Education Training Center faculty has the responsibility of providing learning opportunities that encourage intellectual creativity, critical thinking and fosters evidenced based care and the use healthcare informatics to improve communication and a safe quality client centered care.
